The window between school and dinner is either productive or it isn't. For a lot of families in Union, it's where homework gets avoided, screens get stared at, and kids come home wired with nowhere to put it.

AllStar's after-school program gives that time a structure. Kids come in, they move, they focus, they learn something real. They go home tired in the right way — not overstimulated, but physically worked and mentally settled.

What happens in class

Structure From Bell to Bell

Physical movement first

Kids sit all day. Classes start with conditioning — running, jumping, movement patterns — to shake off the school-day stillness before we ask them to focus on technique.

Technique and learning

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu taught progressively. Real positions, real escapes, real takedowns — broken into age-appropriate chunks with clear progression.

Controlled sparring

Live drilling where kids test what they've learned against resistance. This is where the confidence builds — not from being told they're doing great, but from actually handling something difficult.

Cool-down and focus

Class ends structured. Kids leave calmer than they arrived. That transition matters for the dinner table and the homework session that follows.

Why it shows up at school

The Discipline Transfer

The same focus it takes to learn a jiu-jitsu technique — listen, repeat, adapt, try again — is the same focus that math and reading require.

AllStar parents consistently report that within 60–90 days of consistent training, teachers notice a difference. Not just in how their kid handles conflict at recess. In how they sit. How they listen. How they respond when a subject gets hard. Martial arts doesn't teach discipline as a concept. It requires it, class after class, until it becomes a habit of mind.

Choose the Right Fit

Cubs — Ages 4–6

Classes are 30 minutes, structured around age-appropriate movement, listening games, coordination activities, and basic jiu-jitsu concepts. At this age, the goal is foundation: body awareness, following instruction, and physical confidence.

Lions — Ages 7–13

Real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — the same art that adults train, adjusted for developmental stage. Belt progression is real. Milestones are earned. Kids who've been in Lions for two or three years are noticeably more capable — physically, socially, and under pressure.
